Powerful new quake rocks Mexico

WASHINGTON, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- A 6.2 earthquake rocked Mexico Saturday where slights tremors were felt in Mexico City and workers had to briefly halt rescue operations.
According to the US Geological Survey, this quake was centered about 19 kilometers southeast of Matias Romero in the state of Oaxaca, which was hit hard by the 8.1 quake earlier this month. There has been no information if today's quake had caused any damages or casualties.
This is the third powerful quake to hit Mexico within a few weeks and just days after a 7.1 magnitude quake killed over 290 people and rescue operations continue for survivors buried under the rubble. (end) si.gta
