Two militants, one policeman killed, three injured in Kashmir encounters

NEW DELHI, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- Indian police sources said at least two militants and one policeman were killed, and three others were injured in two separate attacks in north Indian-controlled state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Quoting local police sources, the Indo Asian News Agency said two militants were killed in a gunfight that erupted in Shopian district after a military vehicle came under militant attack in an area between Imam Sahib and Barbugh village.
A police officer told the agency that a local girl named Nusrat was also hospitalized after sustaining bullet injury during the exchange of fire.
The officer added that authorities have rushed police reinforcements to the spot.
Acting on intelligence information, the security forces surrounded Barbugh village and launched a search operation to track down hiding militants in the region.
In a separate incident, a policeman named Imtiyaz Ahmad was killed and two others sustained serious injuries as they came under militant attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. (end) atk.ibi
