Egypt condemns N. Korea's nuclear test

CAIRO, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- Egypt condemned Monday North Korea's latest nuclear test, expressing concern over Pyong Yang's non-compliance with UN Security Council resolutions.
The latest nuclear test by North Korea represents a threat to regional security in East Asia and weakens the nuclear non-proliferation agreement, said Egyptian foreign ministry in a statement.
Egypt called on Pyong Yang to abide by the UN Security Council resolutions and principles of international law in this regard, the statement added.
It expressed concern over the continued escalation in the Korean peninsula, which increases tension, arms race and instability in the region.
North Korea said Sunday that it successfully conducted a test of a hydrogen bomb that can be loaded into its intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). (end) asm.nhq
