Kuwait bourse witnesses divergent trades

KUWAIT, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- Boursa Kuwait concluded Tuesday's session in a divergent manner, amid ongoing influence by companies traditionally known as "inactive." Despite fall of the benchmark, purchasing targeted blue-chips in all sectors, particularly communications, namely Zain.
Traders were particularly lured throughout the session to medium-price companies. Moreover, the session witnessed selling pressure, profit generation targeting chips that climbed in previous sessions.
They have also targeted non-Kuwait shares amid assembly operations targeting small companies of 50-fils stocks.
This week's final session is forecast to witness further pressure and profit generation, with aim of preserving liquidity ahead of Eid Al-Adha holiday.
Companies under umbrella of Kuwait-15 index were involved in 7.8 million stocks worth of trades, done in 573 spot transactions, worth KD 4.8 million (some USD 15.6 million).
The bourse ended Tuesday's trading on mixed boards as the price index lost 9.45 points reaching 6,899.45 points.
Meanwhile, the weighted index gained 1.39 points reaching 432.36 points so as the KSX 15, which gained 2.87 points reaching 991.62 points.
The number of trades was at 3,127 transactions with a value of KD 16 million, and a volume of 85 million shares. (end) mke.ag.rk
