Sudanese VP vows to kill "confiscation of unlicensed weapons" opponents

KHARTOUM, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- Sudan's Vice President Hassabo Mohammad Abdulrahman said late Sunday that a presidential order was issued to kill opponents of weapons collecting campaign.
Abdulrahman, who is chairing the Higher Committee for collecting unlicensed weapons and 4X4 vehicles, said in a statement that the regular forces were mandated to put in play "shoot to kill" orders when dealing with opponents of the law.
He vowed as well to arrest and bring to trial all "War Lords" who resist the presidential order and causing chaos and undermine security in the region.
Since the beginning of August, the Sudanese government launched a large-scale campaign to collect the unlicensed weapons and 4X4 vehicles in the West Darfur State in a bid to restore rule of law in the region.
Hassabo said this caused death of more than 6,000 people due to tirbal conflicts.
Earlier this month, the vice-president has underlined that war and conflict in Darfur were now question of the past and that those who are still holding to their arms should come inside the country and join the National Dialogue Conference document so that comprehensive peace could be reached in the country.(end).
