KUWAIT, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Khaled Abdel Razik Al-Masri clinched the 15th Kuwait Rapid Chess Championship men's title with Hazaa Al-Shourfaa taking home the award for best Kuwaiti on Friday.
Ferdinand Laming of the Philippines trailed in second followed by another Egyptian Ahmed Ramadan, while India's Sam Noel won the U-16 championship at the event held at Al-Kuwait Sports Club.
The competition aims to encourage the spread of the game amongst people in the Gulf country, the event's technical director Fadi Al-Failakawi told KUNA.
Some 38 players took part in the seven-round Swiss tournament. (end) fr.sd
