BAGHDAD, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Around six new Kuwaiti-financed schools of prefabricated units have been built in Iraq's northern province of Nineveh, located on the outskirts of Mosul, an Iraqi health activist said Friday.
The schools, made of caravans, are part of phase five of a construction project financed by the Kuwaiti humanitarian campaign "Kuwait by your side", Dr. Ahmad Al-Haity, Chairman of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS), told KUNA.
The project is under the supervision of Kuwaiti Ambassador Salem Al-Zamanan and the Iraqi government's units of civilian crisis management, Al-Haity added.
Out of the total number, four schools were built in the Nineveh Plains region, one in Qayyarah camp for the internally displaced persons, south of Mosul, and one in Mosul's left coast, he said.
Each school has 16 classrooms, two units for administration, in addition to fully equipped health and medical facilities, he added, noting that the schools will open to the public in 45 days. (end) ahh.ma
