Six "very dangerous" gunmen killed in Sinai -- military

CAIRO, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Army troops have killed six "very dangerous takfiris" and wounded four others as part of ongoing operations against the armed hardliners in northeastern Sinai.
The army said in a statement on Friday that the regular forces demolished three depots containing more than 350 explosives.
"Takfiri" is an Arabic term alluding to Islamists of extreme hardline beliefs.
The military added that 12 hideouts for "terrorists" and 13 vehicles were located during raids.
The regulars will continue the operations "cleanse the terrorists' hotbeds and annihilate terrorism in northern Sinai," the statement concluded.
Armed militants entrenched in the Sinai have often attacked government targets and forces. (end) hdr.rk
