MADRID, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Raging fire has spread across 8,000 hectares (80 sq kms) of wooded land and bushes in norther western Spanish province of Leon, the administration of Castile and Leon said in a statement on Friday.
More than 50 people had to flee the fire-gutted areas to safer places, as hundreds of firemen and civil defense personnel were called in to contain the blazes and help the affected residents.
The blazes that broke out in Encinedo town last Monday spread quickly due to high heat and blowing winds.
Firefighters are facing difficulty in reaching the burning locations due to rugged terrain. (end)
