Zain involves in social, charitable activities

KUWAIT, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- Zain telecommunication group announced on Wednesday publicizing its sixth annual report themed "innovate for sustainable future," featuring its agenda in sustainability and social responsibility for 2016.
The company, which operates eight state-of-art telecommunication networks in the Middle East and North Africa, said in a statement the report issuance is in harmony with UN guidelines and international reports.
Deputy Chairman Badr Al-Kharafi said Zain group believes that corporations should play a pivotal role in the country's social and economic development and encourage talented citizens.
He indicated that Zain shares authorities of regional states concerns and responsibilities toward huge numbers of refugees.
Zain has cooperated with the United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees and Facebook to secure high speed wi-fi for the refugees and poor communities, he said, indicating that a five-year project has been executed in Jordan.
The mother company, Zain Kuwait, donated some sums in 2016 to cover education expenses for children of poor families in Kuwait, as part of a humanitarian strategy with Kuwait Red Crescent Society.
Moreover, Zain has organized a contest for best small businesses in the Arab world. (end) skm.rk
