One million pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia - ministry

JEDDAH, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- Around one million pilgrims from various countries are currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj rituals, the Saudi Hajj and Umra Ministry announced Saturday.
The pilgrims, who arrived via the Kingdom's air, land, and sea ports, are currently receiving all necessary services to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility, the ministry said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Passports stated, in its daily statistics, that 946,182 pilgrims arrived by air; 43,114 by land; and 3583 by sea, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
So far, there is an increase by 22.5 percent, 182,543 pilgrims, in this year's Hajj season compared to the same period last year, said the Saudi directorate. (end) nsa.ma
