CAIRO, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's support for proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) in the Middle east is based on a unified Arab stance in this respect, a Kuwaiti diplomat affirmed on Wednesday.
Ambassador Sadeq Maarefi, the State of Kuwait Ambassador to Austria and UN agencies in Vienna, called for greater cooperation among the Arab states to rid the region of these arms of wide scale lethal effects.
Ambassador Maarefi, who was speaking to KUNA, chairs the Kuwaiti delegation at the 43rd meeting of the commission grouping senior Arab officials tasked with nuclear and WMD weapons.
He underscored significance of making a unified Arab stance at the forthcoming conference of the International Atomic International Agency (IAEA), due in Vienna, regarding rapid proliferation of these arms in the Middle East and placing Israel's nuclear facilities under international monitoring.
