French President Macron happy with Neymar potential transfer to PSG

PARIS, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday that the prospect of a transfer to Paris Saint Germain by Brazilian soccer superstar Neymar would be "good news" and would add an attraction to the Paris team, news reports said.
"France Info" radio said that the transfer fee for the Brazilian, who currently plays for Barcelona F.C., was set at Euros 220 million (USD 265 million), an absolute record for a transfer and more than double the highest fee so far paid in the soccer world.
The French radio said that Macron told reporters while on a visit that the deal would add to "the attraction" of PSF and was "good news." Macron has also congratulated PSG Chairman Nasser Al-Khalaifi, who manages the club for Qatar.
But a last-minute snag may delay or even scupper the transfer deal, as the Spanish League Federation has said it will not accept the cancellation clause that would immediately free Neymar to join PSG.
Uncertainty reigned in Paris Thursday on negotiations with the Spanish League on the release of Neymar from Barcelona and the Spaniards are invoking unfair financial practice in the PSG deal. (End) jk.rk
