Britain expresses deep concerns over unrest in Al-Aqsa

LONDON, July 22 (KUNA) -- Britain expressed deep concerns over the latest developments in Al-Aqsa Mosque and clashes between Israelis and Palestinians.
In a statement, Minister for the Middle East, Alistair Burt, calls on all parties to restore calm.
Burt said "I deplore the violence which took place yesterday in Jerusalem and across the West Bank." "I am deeply concerned by the deaths of three Palestinians and the large numbers injured during clashes yesterday. I urge the relevant authorities to swiftly investigate these incidents," Burt added.
The increase in tensions in the Old City of Jerusalem is of serious concern, Burt noted, adding, "Jerusalem is a sacred place for millions of people in the world." "We call upon all parties to restore calm, avoid provocation and through engagement reach a solution that ensures the safety and the security of the site and upholds the status quo," Burt concluded.
