Qatari response to demands decides course of action - UAE's FM

ABU DHABI, July 4 (KUNA) -- The Qatari response to the demands by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahraini, and Egypt will decide the course of action in regards to the current situation in the region, said UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahayan Tuesday.
During a press conference with German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel, Al-Nahayan said "We are still waiting for the response from our brothers in Kuwait regarding the response that they received from Qatar and once we examine it among ourselves we will take the decision of course." On Monday, Qatar delivered a response to mediator Kuwait.

The UAE Foreign Minister noted that "in appreciation of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the response (on the side of the four states) will be after contacts and coordination with (His Highness the Amir) and the Kuwaiti envoy, not through the media." On his part, the German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel stressed the importance of forbearance and avoiding jumping conclusions in the future, but in the meantime he called for an end to "funding terrorism." Gabriel said that the GCC states have an opportunity to enhance the war on terror.

The German minister is on a Gulf tour that saw him visit Saudi Arabia Monday, then the UAE today. He will proceed to Qatar later Tuesday and then Kuwait tomorrow.
The tour aims to give a push to the efforts to find a solution to the Gulf crisis through dialogue, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry in Berlin. (end) bs.msa
