MOSCOW, June 27 (KUNA) -- A senior Ukrainian military intelligence officer was killed in a car bomb on Tuesday.
Interfax News Agency quoted Ukrainian security sources as saying that Col. Maksim Shapoval was killed immediately while other citizens were also injured.
The Ukrainian government is running a thorough investigation and has labelled the incident as "an act of terrorism," it added.
The country has been in continuous tension since a number of eastern regions, including Donetsk and Lugansk announced separation from the local authority in Kiev in May 2014. (end)
