Taliban attack kills 10 policemen in W. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, June 25 (KUNA) -- At least 10 Afghan policemen were killed and four others wounded in an attack on police check post by rebels in Afghanistan's western Herat province, said officials on Sunday.
The spokesman for provincial police chief, Gelani Farhad said that Taliban rebels stormed a post at Salma Dam in Chesht district of the province leading to the mentioned casualties.
The insurgents also managed to get away with most of the security forces' weapons at the post. He claimed that four Taliban rebels were also killed in clash with security forces. Taliban rebels have not yet commented on the attack.
The attack came at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan following the launch of their spring offensive against the foreign and Afghan security forces in Afghanistan. (end) sbk.gta
