KUWAIT, June 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), in cooperation with local charities and banks, provided aid and assistance to those in need within the country and abroad during the holy month of Ramadan, said the Chairman of the Board for the KRCS Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer Friday.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Sayer said that the KRCS efforts was mainly aimed at giving a glimpse of hope to poor people and the needy during the course of the month of Ramadan, adding that the assistance this year consisted of distributing necessities, coupons, and foodstuff in addition to field visits and other charitable activities.
The efforts this year were a success due to KRCS' cooperation with numerous local bodies, said Al-Sayer who affirmed that such gestures helped to solidify social bonds among the people of Kuwait.
On providing aid abroad, the KRCS chairman affirmed that the society made it its mission to help people in numerous parts of the world during the holy month.
Various initiatives were launched to help Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, said Al-Sayer, adding that Iftar banquets and food parcels were the main form of aid given to the refugees.
He added that medical aid was also provided to Syrian refugees in the fellow Arab country.
He revealed that KRCS also provided aid to people in the occupied Palestinian territories, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and other countries, affirming that the society will continue its efforts to provide assistance locally and internationally.
