KUWAIT, June 23 (KUNA) -- 1972 -- The Kuwaiti Dinar was pegged to the US Dollar's exchange rate. Floatation of the British pound prompted Kuwait to shift to the greenback.
1987 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Alآ­Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Alآ­Sabah issued decree number 31, regulating national aviation transport.
1997 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Alآ­Ahmad Alآ­Jaber Alآ­Sabah issued an Amiri Decree endorsing the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. Kuwait became the 93rd signatory state.
1998 -- Minister of Health Dr. Adel Alآ­Subeeh issued regulatory resolutions giving health departments greater authorities.
2000 -- The US Congress endorsed a resolution calling for release of more than 600 Kuwaiti and third country nationals, detained in Iraq since the Iraqi aggression of 1990.
2008 -- The Cabinet approved a KD 50 pay raise for state employees, retirees, and those receiving social and disability financial support. The increase got the approval of parliament in a session the following day.
2008 -- Athletes Jassem Alآ­Mas and Abdulaziz Alآ­Mandil nabbed two gold medals at the 13th Arab Track and Field games in Tunisia in the 400 meter hurdles and the 110 meter hurdles category.
2008 -- Runner Mohammad Alآ­Azmi won the gold medal in an international track and field championship in Morocco in the 800-meter category.
2010 -- Kuwait and the US signed cooperation memo on securing of nuclear material.
2011 -- Kuwait's National Assembly voted on a motion to cease cooperation with government of His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Alآ­Mohammad Alآ­Sabah. Twentyآ­five MPs voted against the motion while 18 others voted in approval and six MPs abstained from voting.
2011 -- MPs Faisal Alآ­Mslem and Khaled Alآ­Tahous submitted an official motion to grill His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Alآ­Sabah.
2013 -- Kuwait and Tajikistan signed several agreements within diplomatic and cultural domains.
