Egypt extends state of emergency for 3 months

CAIRO, June 22 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian government on Thursday agreed to prolong a state of emergency for three months across the country.
Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi declared on April 10, 2016, a state of emergency in the country for three months and the formation of a supreme council to fight terrorism and extremism after some explosions targeted two churches, killing and wounding scores of people.
Meanwhile, security forces have raided a hideout of gunmen in Asiut killing seven "of the terrorists," the Egyptian Ministry of Interior said on Thursday.
It said the gunmen were involved in recent terrorist attacks including blasts that targeted Christian churches. (end) hdr.ams.hm
