Missile attack on IS in Syria timely, appropriate - Iranian Pres.

TEHRAN, June 20 (KUNA) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed the Sunday missile attack by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the positions of the so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorists in Deir Ezzor, east Syria, as timely and appropriate.
"The IRGC military move was part of the actions decided by the Supreme National Security Council," IRNA quoted him as saying at a gathering of scholars and clergymen for an iftar banquet on Tuesday evening.
"Iran's approach regarding regional and global issues has not changed, but if a group wishes to harm Iran's glory, it will receive a crushing response. The Islamic Republic will continue its path with grandeur and dignity," the President said.
Commenting on the national issues, he said that national issues 'are not factional; rather they belong to the whole nation.
"National interests, national security and the Constitution as well as the Supreme Leader are not factional issues. "Even the government is not a factional issue, although a government may come to power with the help of a particular party, when it is elected trough public votes, it belongs to all and all are duty-bound to support it," he added.
The attack with surface-to-surface mid-range missiles from IRGC's bases in Kermanshah and Kordestan provinces, west Iran, targeted the IS command center and logistics in Deir Ezzor; it was meant to punish the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks in Tehran on June 7 which left dozens of casualties.
