KUWAIT, May 24 (KUNA) -- 1952 -- Islamic Guidance Society starts operation, specialized in cultural and Islamic affairs and offering seminars and lectures, as well as issuing "Irshad" magazine.
1959 -- Amiri decree 13/59 issued on traffic regulations and stipulating measures policemen are authorized to take to implement traffic laws.
1964 -- Kuwait ratifies convention of the Arab telecommunications' union signed in Cairo on June 12, 1963.
1970 -- Kuwait Economic Society was declared.
1980 -- A Kuwaiti plane was hijacked en route to Beirut, with no injuries reported.
1997 -- Kathma Sports Club wins His Highness the Amir's Football Cup.
1999 -- Kuwait Fiber-Optics Systems Company was founded with a capital of KD 3-5 million.
2005 -- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia sign an agreement for regulating leisure fishing activity in the submerged area falling near the divided zone between the two countries.
2008 -- Kuwait's Tareq Al-Qallaf snatches the gold medal in an international fencing competition for the disabled, held in Italy. (end) hb
