Trump "united the entire Muslim world" - official says

WASHINGTON, May 23 (KUNA) - US President Donald Trump's visit to Riyadh and the West Bank "united the entire Muslim world in a way that really hasn't been in many years," a senior administration officials told reporters Tuesday.
The trip was "essential towards trying to reestablish America's credibility in the region," the official, who declined to be named while speaking onboard Air Force One, said.
The last four days "have been very successful for us," the official, whose remarks were cited by media in Washington D.C., affirmed.
The president's priority was to establish "warm and strong" relationships in the Middle East that will combat the so-called Islamic State's ideology and also establish a path toward a peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, the official said.
"Now you have (nations) working together which is much stronger than everyone working alone in fighting the longterm battle against the (IS) ideology. So we want to not have to kill terrorists, we want to prevent terrorists from becoming terrorists and that's a very critical thing," the official continued.
"The agreement we got everyone to sign saying they are going to work very hard toward making the funding of terrorists in their country is also an amazing landmark and accomplishment. What we'll be able to do there is create a way to monitor and enforce and include the cooperation of all these different countries." That created "a new and strong relationship between America and the Muslim World," the official said. "You can only do it if there's trust." (end) ys.bs
