Bahraini police arrests 50 suspects including fugitive terrorists

MANAMA, May 23 (KUNA) -- Fifty suspects were arrested, including fugitive terrorists from Jau prison, as part of operation to restore order in the kingdom, the Interior ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement quoted by Bahraini news agency (BNA) saying "Bahraini police deployed on a targeted security operation to Al-Deraz area came under attack by members of a terrorist cell throwing fire bombs, forcing the security authorities to respond proportionately.
Several security personnel were injured during the encounter, and the operation was undertaken to protect public order and to ensure the safety and security of residents," the statement added.
After the operation, police said a series of arrests were made, including 50 fugitives, some of whom had escaped from Jau Prison.
Several terrorists and convicted felons that were also apprehended used Isa Qassem's residence and other residences in the same area to escape from Police.
During the successful security operation, forces were able to remove a series of illegal roadblocks and barricades.
Police remain deployed in the area to ensure the safety of people and their ease of movement, calling on all parents to ensure the safety of their children and immediately inform the security authorities of any information they may have regarding illegal firearms or dangerous substances that could be used in terrorist acts.
