GCC condemns Manchester terrorist attack

RIYADH, May 23 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist bomb attack on the Manchester Arena that killed and injured scores of innocent civilians.
The attack "is a heinous terrorist crime" that violates moral and human values, and required unification of international efforts to eliminate terrorism, GCC Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani said in a statement.
He expressed solidarity with Britain to protect its security and stability.
British police identified the suicide bomber who carried out the attack on the Manchester Arena late Monday has been named as Salman Abedi, 22.
The attack killed 22 people and injured 59 others.
Police said security forces are focusing now on whether Abedi was acting alone or as part of a network. (end) mdm.bs
