KUWAIT, May 23 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim received on Tuesday former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Dr. Rima Khalaf.
The meeting tackled the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories, as well as the circumstances that led to Khalaf's resignation, when she refused to withdraw an ESCWA report accusing Israel of establishing an apartheid regime.
Al-Ghanim underscored the need to ramp up diplomatic pressure on Israel to adhere to UN conventions. (end)
