Iraqi PM holds talks with Qatar FM in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, May 22 (KUNA) -- Boosting bilateral ties was the focus of talks held in Baghdad on Monday between Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi and visiting Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The talks also addressed regional developments and the war against the so-called Islamic State (IS), an official statement said.
The Iraqi troops have been achieving victories against the IS/Daesh, the Premier said.
Al-Abadi added that they are approaching a final victory against the terrorist group, urging further cooperation among all countries to defeat terrorism, according to the statement.
On his part, the Qatari chief diplomat called for promoting bilateral ties, and stressed the necessity of joint action to counter the challenges facing the region.
He also reiterated support to Iraq in its fight against terror.
The foreign minister handed Al-Abadi a message from Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani invitation to visit Doha. (end) ahh.msa
