RIYADH, May 21 (KUNA) -- First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah stated Sunday that the Arab-Islamic-US summit in Riyadh has sent a clear message to those prejudicing the tolerant, and moderate Islam.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled remark was made in a statement to KUNA and Kuwait TV on the sidelines of his participation in the inauguration of the Riyadh-based Moderation Center for combatting terrorism.
On His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's meeting with the US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the summit, the Kuwaiti top diplomat clarified that the meeting focused on reviewing bilateral relations and cooperation in various domains.
He added that meeting also touched upon the latest developments in the region.
"It was a fruitful and mutually-beneficial summit," he said.
He noted that the consultative Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Riyadh Sunday addressed a slew of key issues relative to security, military, political, economic and investment cooperation.
On the GCC-US summit, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled pointed that the summit deliberated a long-term strategic partnership between both sides.
President Trump has reaffirmed the US commitment towards the security, stability and prosperity of the Gulf countries, he said, adding that the meeting also tackled bilateral cooperation in various domains.
He added that they have also discussed the role of US and Gulf states in dealing with regional and international crises of mutual interest.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said that the Gulf states and US have signed a memorandum of understanding on combatting terrorism finance and put up a similar memo for willing countries to join. (end) mdm.ibi
