France condemns terrorist attacks in Iraq, Pakistan

PARIS, Feb 16 (KUNA) -- The French Foreign Ministry condemned a series of terrorist attacks that caused scores of casualties in Iraq's capital, Baghdad, over the last two days and a deadly attack on a shrine in southern Pakistan on Thursday.
A statement from the Ministry expressed condolences to the families of the many victims in the attacks and urged support for the Iraqi and Pakistani governments.
"France, alongside its partners in the Coalition, renews its full support to the Iraqi armed forces in the fight against terrorism," the statement said.
Paris also vowed to take its full share in the battle to remove terrorist groups from Iraqi territory and also to support Prime Minster Haidar Al-Abadi and his government in "their efforts to work for national reconciliation and the stabilisation of Iraq".
The Ministry also slammed the sectarian attack against a religious site in the Sindh province of Pakistan, where dozens were killed and hundreds wounded.
Everything must be done to combat "the scourge of terrorism," it urged. (end) jk.gb
