Hamas arrests dozens of Fatah members

RAMALLAH, Nov 12 (KUNA) -- Hamas security services carried out campaigns of mass arrests in the ranks of the Fatah movement to prevent commemorating the sixth anniversary of late President Yasser Arafat on Friday.
Forces of the Islamic group, in Gaza Strip, detained Ashraf Jumaa, a Fatah member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), and a number of Fatah members, local sources said. They raided Jumaa's office and arrested him, plus other members of Fatah and escorted them to an unknown location, they added.
They also arrested dozens of Fatah followers in the town of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, and summoned 13 others in eastern Gaza, it noted.
Fatah's parliamentary bloc denounced the actions made by Hamas, Fatah said in its statement.
"The attacks are serious against members of Fatah movement, including elected representatives," it added.
