SANAA, Oct 23 (KUNA) - The security services in Aden Governorate, southwest
Yemen, have dismantled a terrorist cell, the Yemeni Ministry of Interior said
Saturday.
The nine-member group was planned for sabotage and terror acts to
destabilize the governorate, according to a statement issued by the ministry
here.
A member of the cell, identified as Saleh A. A. Al-Breiki, 30-year old, was
caught red-handed while trying to plant an explosive charge at a key facility
in the governorate.
The improvised bomb contained 1,800 grams of the highly explosive TNT, a
detonator, a timer and a flammable robe, wrapped in a plastic bag, the
statement said.
Six other members of the cell have been caught while the remaining two
members are still at large, it added.
In the last few weeks Aden has been the scene of violent acts which
targeted civilian facilities such as sports and transport utilities, killing
four people and injuring eight others.
Governor of Aden said all perpetrators of the bombings had been arrested
and referred to the judiciary. (end)
