ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- One soldier was killed and eight others
sustained injuries in a roadside bomb explosion on Tuesday in a Pakistani
tribal agency, bordering Afghanistan, security sources said.
In a separate incident, two militants were killed in clashes with the
forces in the northern Sawat valley.
A security forces convoy hit a roadside remote-controlled bomb explosion on
Dattakhel Road in North Waziristan tribal agency, security sources told KUNA.
They said the explosion killed a soldier and wounded eight others.
In another incident, said the sources further, two militants were killed in
clashes with the security forces in northern Sawat valley.
According to the details, the security forces were conducting an operation
in Khawazakhela area of the valley when militants opened fire at them. In the
retaliatory fire, said sources, two militants were killed. The killed
militants are said to be local Taliban commanders. Forces said that they have
also recovered a cache of ammunition and heavy weapons from their hideout.
