MOSCOW, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- Russia welcomed the Syrian signature of the Arab
League's initiative protocol that enables the League to send observers to
Syria, and urged seizing this opportunity to ensure stability.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday that Russia supported the
Arab League's initiative for addressing the crisis in Syria since the
beginning.
The Russian statement called for ceasing the violence in Syria in all its
forms and manifestations, as to solve the problems by the Syrians themselves,
through national dialogue and no international interference.
The observers will monitor the situation in Syria and make sure that the
regime in Damascus was implementing tenets of the agreed on protocol. (end)
