CAIRO, Dec 6 (KUNA) -- Arab league Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby is
still discussing with Arab foreign ministers a date for a meeting to discuss
Syria's approval to sign League-proposed observers protocol, a senior official
said Tuesday.
Ahmad bin Hilli, League's Deputy Secretary General, said in press remarks
there was no final answer from Al-Araby to the Syrian foreign minister Waleed
Al-Muallem's letter in which he informed the League that Damascus was ready to
sign the protocol.
Al-Araby cannot respond to the Syrian letter by himself, explained bin
Hilli, because it needed consultations with the Arab foreign ministers.
Bin Hilli said he did not understand why everybody was focusing on the
protocol, which is only one of the mechanisms in the Arab League-proposed
initiative to address the conflict in Syria. (end)
