Syria releases over 500 people arrested in protests

DAMASCUS, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- Syrian authorities released Saturday more than 500 people who were arrested during protests in different parts of the country, state-run TV said.
On the occasion of the advent of Eid Al-Adha, the TV added, government authorities decided to release 553 people who were arrested during protests "but their hands were not stained by the Syrians blood." Meanwhile, Syrian news agency (SANA) said authorities have recently released 119 people.
Interior Minister Mohammad Al-Shaar called on the Syrians, in a televized speech yesterday, who possessed, distributed or purchased weapons but did not commit any murder to hand over their arms, and they would be pardoned. (end) tk.bs KUNA 051954 Nov 11NNNN
