SANAA, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- Three children were killed and 10 others, including
four children, were wounded in a heavy artillery attack on residential areas
in northern Sanaa on Saturday.
Tribal sources said three children were killed and 10 others were injured
in a heavy artillery attack by pro-governmental forces.
A nearby oil facility was also seriously damaged in the attack, the sources
added.
Earlier in the day, two civilians were killed in a similar attack by
pro-governmental forces on the same area.
For six months now, pro-governmental forces have been attacking areas in
northern Sanaa where tribes support the Yemeni uprising.
The UN Security Council had issued a resolution calling on Yemeni President
Ali Abdullah Saleh to sign a GCC-brokered deal that paves the way for his
resignation.
Saleh had responded by welcoming the resolution but has so far refused to
sign the agreement, despite increased regional and international pressure to
do so.
The GCC plan stipulates that Saleh hand power to his vice president within
30 days of signing the agreement in return for immunity from prosecution, and
that presidential elections be held within two months after Saleh resigns.
