BAGHDAD, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- Four bomb attacks ripped through Baghdad
Thursday, killing at least 20 people and injuring 48 others.
Four women are among the dead while the injured include women and children,
security and medical sources told KUNA here.
Two car bombs exploded at Sector 61 and Al-Qayyara neighborhood as a twin
bombing hit Meridi marketplace in Al-Sadr district to the east of Baghdad.
The attacks are part of a ongoing spat bombings which killed 23 and wounded
85 others yesterday. Most of the victims are police men.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi security services managed to defuse an explosive
charge weighing 100 kilograms at a car parking area in north Baghdad.
Explosive experts, belonging to the 11th division of the Iraqi army,
detected a bomb-laden car in Al-A'dhamiya district and managed to defuse the
charge, thus averting a deadly attack.
During the operation the law-enforcement services arrested three terrorists
believed to be associates of Al-Qaeda Organization in Iraq. (end)
