(with photos) MILAN, Italy, Oct 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Information Undersecretary Sheikh Salman Al-Homoud Al-Sabah, pursuing a mission for promoting Kuwait as a tourist and business destination in this European nation, has capped the activities with participation in a broad banquet that grouped Kuwaiti diplomats and eminent local figures and notables.
Sheikh Salman, attending the banquet, held late on Tuesday honoring the personalities that took part in the "Kuwaiti Days" promotion activities, drew praise from the Kuwaiti General Consul in Milan and North Italy, Sami Abdul Aziz Al-Hamad, who addressed the attendees at the gathering, held at the Hotel Principe Di Savoia. The undersecretary was present as the representative of the sponsor of the event, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Sabah.
The representative of the foreign minister, after the national anthems of Kuwait and Italy were played, distributed a big number of certificates of appreciation and honoring, to the mayor of Milan and local officials for ensuring success of the 'Kuwaiti media and cultural demonstration that drew acclaim from the city natives and visitors." The ceremony was attended by many eminent figures, namely the Kuwaiti ambassador to Italy Sheikh Jaber Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah, the deputy mayor of the city, municipal officials, government figures, Arab and foreign diplomats, academics and other Kuwaiti personalities.
The General Consul, in a statement at the gathering, expressed satisfaction at the level of the distinguished ties between Kuwait and Italy. He praised role of the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry, namely the minister, and Milan Municipality for sponsoring the activities. He also thanked Kuwait Petroleum International, the official sponsor and main supporter of the event.
The undersecretary is due to depart Italy, on Tuesday, concluding a visit during which he represented the foreign minister at the activities for the promotion of the national heritage, culture and business environment. (end) mn.rk KUNA 121101 Oct 11NNNN
