VIENNA, Oct 12 (KUNA) -- Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger announced
that Austria had released all frozen Libyan assets.
The Austrian Press Agency reported on Wednesday that Austria had been
lagging behind regarding the release of the total assets amounting to 1
billion euros compared to other European countries: France (more than two
billion euros) and Britain and the Netherlands (each one billion) had already
released frozen Libyan funds unconditionally.
Austria gave the go-ahead to release 150 million euros in September to fund
humanitarian projects.
Spindelegger arrived in Tripoli at the end of last week and met with
leaders of the National Transitional Council and to re-open the Austrian
Embassy.
He was accompanied by a large economic delegation to explore possibilities
for new cooperation between the two countries. (end)
