SANAA, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- One person was killed and four women were injured in
two separate attacks in the Yemeni governorates of Sanaa and Ta'ez on Sunday,
a medical source said.
The source, from the Change Square in the capital city, said Muwaffaq Abu
Bakr Shawwala was shot dead by an unknown sniper at the southern entrance of
the square.
People have been protesting in the square since last February demanding a
regime change.
The source said the bullet hit Shawwala in his heart. He was walking near
the University of Old Sanaa when he was hit.
In Ta'ez, meanwhile, four women were wounded when they were attacked by
suspected President Ali Abdullah Saleh's supporters, according to a statement
by the organizing committee of the peaceful revolution of youth. The four
women were participating in an all-female rally to celebrate Tawakul Karman's
victory of the Nobel Peace Prize. (end)
