TEHRAN, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- Any plan to divide Palestine would be rejected,
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said here
Saturday.
"Palestine is from the river to the sea, not one inch less and any proposal
to resolve the Palestinian issue through dividing it is totally unacceptable,"
Khamenei said in his address to the 5th International Conference on the
Palestinian Intifada, opened here earlier today.
"We call for the liberation of Palestine and not part of it," he added,
considering the two-state solution compliance to "Zionist" movement.
The Supreme Leader said that Iran calls for a referendum on Palestine's
future, in which Palestinians of all religious affiliations take part in.
"We neither propose throwing Jewish migrants into the sea, nor do we
propose arbitration of the United Nations."
"Iran has, instead, put forward holding of a massive election, involving
all Palestinians to decide about the Palestinian issue," said the Ayatollah.
Khamenei said that Western countries had to stop their support for the
Zionist regime and recognize Palestinians' rights or face heavy blows in a not
very distant future.
For his part, Head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Khaled Meshaal said that
the Palestinian Authority bid for statehood in UN is far from the Palestinian
groups' strategy against the continued occupation of Palestinian territories
by the Zionist regime.
"Palestinian Intifada will win thanks to the support of Muslim nations. The
whole historical territory of Palestine will be liberated in the near future.
Today's realities of the world and the Zionist regime's 60-year long criminal
record have forced us to pursue resistance in the struggle for the freedom of
occupied lands," he stated.
He stressed that Islamic Awakening has strengthened the Palestinians' power
of resistance.
The high-ranking Hamas official expressed hope that Arab leaders and
Palestinian activists would find a better understanding of the situation and
strengthen resistance to occupation.
The 5th International Conference on the Palestinian Intifada with
participation of parliamentary delegations, including several speakers,
leading political figures and scholars from 50 Muslim and non-Muslim
countries, as well as leaders of several Palestinian groups.
The two-day conference is focusing on the motto of "Palestine, a land only
for Palestinians". (end)
