corrected

ISLAMABAD, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- Chinese Vice Prime Minister Meng Jianzhu arrived here on Monday on an official visit to discuss bilateral relations and matters of regional interests amid growing strains in Pak-US ties.
Although, the Chinese Vice Premier's visit was pre-scheduled and part of Pak-China decision to celebrate 2011 as Pak-China Friendship Year, the recent disturbing developments in Pak-US ties have given it a new color.
It is being largely viewed in the context of countering US pressure on Pakistan. A local leading newspaper Express Tribune (ET) reported it as the visit may give a rare boost to Pakistan's diplomatic effort to counter growing American pressure.
"The visit has a symbolic as well as substantial value, it will definitely send a message across the Atlantic," citing an unmanned official at the foreign ministry reported the ET. The official described the tour as a big relief for Pakistan. However, ministry spokesperson has downplayed the notion and said that it was pre-scheduled in the context of the 60th anniversary of Sino-Pak friendship.
The Chinese Vice Premier will hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and other functionaries. While talking to reporters after his arrival at the airport, the Chinese Premier assured Pakistan full support in every hour of need.
Pakistan, who enjoys warm friendship with China, is being pressurized by Washington to launch offensive against suspected militant elements in North Waziristan tribal agency.
Recently, the US officials publicly accused Pakistan and its intelligence agency of supporting Taliban's Haqqani network. Pakistan has denied the accusations and called them as unfortunate. (end) amn.asa KUNA 261526 Sep 11NNNN
