RAMALLAH, Sept 6 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas
said Tuesday the Palestinians were ready to return to negotiations' table if
Israel showed commitment to principles of the peace process, the two-state
solution on the 1967 border line and halting the building of settlements.
The Palestinians are committed to the negotiations' option but the Israeli
stubbornness and rejection to abide by the peace agreements and halting of
settlements, Abbas said during a meeting with special envoy of the Quartet,
Tony Blair.
Abbas and Blair discussed the Palestinian plans to head to the UN to seek
recognition of the Palestinian state thus become full UN member, Palestinian
media reported.
Abbas is scheduled to meet with a US delegation consisting of US Middle
East Envoy David Hale and While House advisor Dennis Ross, to explore ways of
resuming the peace process. (end)
