CAIRO, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- The Arab League called for joint efforts at the
Arab, regional and international levels to help the Libyans reach a cease-fire
and a political agreement to stop the bloodshedding.
The Arab organization in a statement issued on Sunday expressed hope the
warring forces in Libya would succeed in working out a settlement that would
meet their aspirations, secure reforms and preserve the country's unity,
sovereignty and territorial sanctity.
The league secretariat general has been following up with deep concern on
the attacks and hardships suffered by the civilians in Libya.
The statement referred to previous resolutions by the organization calling
for sparing lives of the civilians, securing necessities for them and
alleviating their hardships. (end)
