BRUSSELS, July 1 (KUNA) -- NATO warplanes in the last 24 hours hit and
destroyed a number of military assets belonging to pro-Gaddafi forces in and
around several towns.
One military facility and one radar was destroyed near Tripoli, noted a
NATO statement Friday.
Two command and control sites were destroyed in the vicinity of Brega, with
two military vehicles in the vicinity of Misrata, one military facility in the
vicinity of Gharyan, one military storage facility in the vicinity of Waddan
and two multiple rocket launchers in the vicinity of Bir al Ghanam.
Since the beginning of the NATO-led operation in Libya on 31 March, NATO
planes have flown a total of 13,324 sorties, including 5,005 strike sorties.
Meanwhile, the ambassadors of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC), headed by the
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, as the Chairman of the NRC, will
travel to Sochi in Russia on Sunday.
On Monday, Rasmussen will chair a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council, with
participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other Russian
high-ranking officials, noted a separate NATO statement. (end)
