SANAA, June 20 (KUNA) -- Tens of thousands of Yemenis anew took to the
streets in Sanaa Monday, demanding removal of the ruling regime.
The protesters demanded departure of President Ali Abdullah Saleh's
relatives from power.
They called for forming a transitional council to run affairs of Yemen
until elections were held.
Protests have been held in many parts of Yemen at a time news reports
suggest that Saudi Arabia and the US were coordinating with Yemeni parties to
insure peaceful power transfer from Saleh to Vice-President Abd Rabbu Mansour
Hadi in line with article 116 of the constitution.
Since President Saleh left for Saudi Arabia for treatment of injuries he
sustained from an attack at a mosque inside the Presidential Palace some three
weeks ago, Vice-President Hadi has been meeting Western Ambassadors to discuss
the situation in Yemen.
Today, foreign minister Abu Bakr Al-Qurabi met with head of the EU mission
in Sanaa to discuss conditions in Yemen. (end)
