ISLAMABAD, June 18 (KUNA) -- A soldier and five militants were killed in
fresh clashes between the two sides in South Waziristan tribal agency of
Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan, said officials.
Taliban militants attacked a security forces checkpost with rockets and
heavy weapons on Saturday in Laddah district of the agency, security officials
told KUNA.
The attack left a soldier killed and three others wounded, said officials.
They said that the security forces launched a retaliatory operation and killed
five militants.
This was the third such attack by militants in the area on the security
forces. (end)
