ALGIERS, May 17 (KUNA) -- Up to 100,000 people are infected with Alzheimer
in Algeria, a disease which mainly affect the elderly, a neurologist said
Tuesday.
Dr. Amalo Suheila, of the Chu Frantz Fanon Hopital in Blida, said a large
proportion of infectees were diagnozed with Alzheimer late in time which is
why it was difficult to treat.
She made the remarks during a national conference about Geriatrics.
The neurologist noted that at the national level these numbers was less
than official figures because many families do not use any treatment due to
ignorance regarding the disease and lack of awareness. (end)
