BAGHDAD, May 10 (KUNA) -- Eleven people were killed and eight injured in a
powerful explosion that rocked the center of city of Tikrit on Tuesday, police
said.
A booby-trapped car, parking in Al-Arba'een Street in central Tikrit,
exploded when police patrol was passing in the street, killing 11 people and
injuring eight others, a police source told KUNA.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Al-Qaeda group had
vowed to carry out attacks in Iraq following the killing of Osama bin Laden by
US forces in Pakistan. (end)
