KUWAIT, April 3 (KUNA) -- The country is affected by an air depression
driving through from southwestern of Kuwait in what turned wind to southerly
and southeasterly one causing weather disturbance, Director of Weather
Forecast Department of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Mohammad
Karam said Sunday.
Karam said, in a statement to KUNA, that another air depression is
advancing from northwestern of Kuwait from Levant countries, adding that both
air depressions will affect the country today and tomorrow with active
southerly wind, which is known as Al-Koos, dominating the biggest portion of
time at a velocity of more than 50 km per hour.
Karam added that wind will cause high tide along with cloudy sky and
unstable weather in general with a chance for arousing dust, and another for
thunder rains.
However, he said clouds will start to dwindle as of late next Monday with
winds starting to become temperate northwesterly one, but speedy with dust
aroused next Tuesday.
Further, he said that the country weather is undergoing what is known as
Al-Sabq period, which comes before Al-Sarayat season, namely the thunderstorms
which starts ahead of mid of April, and goes on till the end of May, and are
marked by unstable stints of weather.
Karam pointed out that both Al-Sabq and Al-Sarayat are of the well-known
seasons in Kuwait, adding that weather disturbances during these periods comes
as a matter of course, and consequently the Weather Forecast Department will
spare no effort on updating citizens and residents alike on the latest weather
developments.
Though Karam called on all inhabitants not to pay attention to the rumors
circulated by text messaging along with other means of communication as they
often exaggerate without any scientific evidence.

forecasts and latest updates and developments through the department's website
